Missions

It is our goal at First Baptist to be actively involved in missions. Our goal is to be a church that not only talks about missions and financially supports missions, rather one that does missions! We want to put our hands and feet in the street telling others about our savoir. We offer many different opportunities for those who want to serve, Care and Share, World Changers, local and trips abroad  are just a few of the exciting ways to serve. Ask today how you can help make First Baptist and yourself a Acts 1:8 church.

Mission review 2009

What did First Baptist do in 2009?

  • Collected toys and toiletries for needy children overseas.
  • Pastor Johnny went and gave his testimony of the Bear mauling in several states,
  • We gave over $2,500 to Annie Armstrong missions offering
  • Supported World Changers here at North Pole by: serving over 1200 meals 700 showers, and all the clean up!
  • World changers Nikiski pastor Jeff and his family went and served as food help and construction volunteers.
  • Allowed teams of missionaries to stay in our facilities and use our showers as they worked on local area churches “strengthening the Brethren”
  • Gave over $1,800 dollars to the Valerie Sherard State missions offering
  • Collected over 80 toys that were delivered to the village of Venetie to bring them the Hope of Christmas.
  • As of Dec 27th we have given over $30,800.00 dollars to the cooperative program and over $6,300 to state missions from the weekly tithes and offerings
  • In total this body of believers has given and/or raised over $45,000.00 dollars in 09 that went to support missions. Praise the Lord!
  • Gave out over 50 food boxes to help those in need.
  • Made many prayer shawls that were given to newborns and the sick.
  • One youth (Caitlin Costello) went to Honduras and worked with Orphans
  • Made over 200 parachutes that help drop radios and Christian literature in South America
  • And Much Much more!

This is just a quick look at a few things we did last year. The coming years look to be even better! As we get out of our comfort zone it is time to give and do missions.

I want to challenge you in 2010-11 to be “HANDS ON” lets apply our giving hearts with helping hands and make missions a reality not only in our giving but in what we do and how we live.
